Sustainable Viticulture Actions
A.Robert champagnes owe much of their quality to the terroirs from which they come. Environmental preservation is considered an essential activity in our vineyards. Thanks to this meticulous attention on environmental practices, consumers are also protected.
A.Robert is certified in sustainable viticulture since 2014. We received the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale, High Environmental Value) level 3 certificate, which is the highest level, and also the VDC certificate (Viticulture Durable en Champagne, Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne). Through these actions and official certificates, we measure our performance in four areas: biodiversity, fertilization, plant protection and water management.
Seeking to go further than the current norms, we are also working to improve our methods of measuring our environmental (carbon, inputs etc) and social impact.
Committed to a global and sustainable path for over 10 years, Champagne A.Robert continues to undertake numerous concrete actions such as:
- Practice of sustainable viticulture throughout our vineyards: hedge and fruit tree plantations near the vineyard, construction of small huts and walls in the vineyards. Our acacia stakes use wood from a forest around Fossoy. Our oak barrels use wood from French forests.
- Preservation of soil quality, cover cropping (primarily grass ) amongst vines, reduced usage of inputs, sexual confusion practiced to stop use of insecticide.
- Optimised usage of water, recuperation of rain water, waste sorting, optimized energy consumption.
As all grapes used in the elaboration of our champagnes come directly and exclusively from our own vineyard, we can guarantee 100% traceability.
